My research areas include clinical and environmental epidemiology, applications of computing in epidemiology, epidemiological and bio-statistical modeling, air pollution, and statistical methods applied to meta-analysis. Disease Control for Communicable (CD) and Non Communicable Diseases (NCD)

I have the ability to work with great creativity and enthusiasm. My work involved bioprocess design (fermentation engineering), isolation and purification of protein metabolites, in vitro application and MIC determination, biochemical growth modeling, and the kinetic study of submerged fermentation. I have experience in extensive sample analysis and calibration/run of equipment like a bioreactor, FPLC, MALDI-MS, FPLC, HPLC, and FTIR spectroscopy in a laboratory. I also used to study advanced microscopic techniques, viz., confocal microscopy, SEM, AFM, and TEM, in order to evaluate ultrastructural changes. I have already published 7 peer reviewed research papers in SCI journals, 1 book and 1 book chapter (international publications), and attended several workshops and conferences at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT BHU. I am also the recipient of the “Young Scientist Award” & CSIR-SRTP mentorship award. I am a multifaceted lecturer with six years of expertise in teaching presentations to reach students of diverse backgrounds. I am an expert in leveraging in-depth knowledge and experience in core food biotechnology to provide relevant information and first-hand lab experiences. I am also known for my personable demeanor and strong work ethic.

It gives me great pleasure and satisfaction to be a part of an Institution which has, in a matter of three years, become an essential component in the entire machinery of Jinnah Sindh Medical University. Advice and academic input is sought from IME not just by the constituent institutions but also affiliated ones. Probably the biggest strength of this institution is the philosophy of ‘all-inclusiveness’; IME believes in the wisdom and strength of forging alliances and partnerships at institutional and individual levels. People from within and outside Pakistan are brought on board for various academic matters and their expertise is utilized for the benefit of the educational system at JSMU and outside. The faculty of constituent and affiliated institutions love to be part of the IME activities and initiatives because of the flexible and academically rich environment that exists. Our members are always ready to listen and understand the scholastic issues faced by the administration, the faculty and the students and come up with solutions which are evidence-based, sustainable and acceptable.
Our CHPE and MHPE programs have gained reputation across the nation as being rigorous, demanding, eminent and beneficial. It is no wonder that our applicant list far outnumbers the participants that we can accept. Our face-to-face, virtual and blended faculty development sessions have received great appreciation and applause. The credit goes to our faculty, our technical and administrative staff and to the participants for their fervor. One thing our students and participants never complain of is the quality of knowledge and skill that they leave with. Our robust and neutral feedback mechanism provides us with prompt input about our strengths and areas of improvement and we act swiftly to appreciate the positives and to redress the slips.
No office of Health Professions Education is complete without research. IME is ardently involved in educational research and encourages the participation of colleagues in other departments and institutions. We believe that this not only generates the much needed local database but also adds to the scholastic prowess of the concerned faculty. This is one of the key factors which elevate the status of a university. IME is proud to have taken such initiatives.

I am a professor of Microbiology at Marine Environment Division, National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, Alexandria, Egypt. I am interested in the field of marine microbiology including production of bioactive compounds with valuable bioactivity from different sources such as bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes and yeast. Moreover I have an experience in the field of enzyme production, optimization using experimental statistical designs. In addition to production, extraction of exopolysaccharides from different marine sources and studying different applications including antimicrobial, anticancer, antiviral, antioxidant activities. Strong interest in isolation, purification of bacteriophages from different marine sources and study of the valuable applications especially in aquaculture as antimicrobial agents for biocontrol of pathogenic bacteria causing an economic loss. I have several publications of researches and review articles in Scopus indexed journals.

Dr. Ammar Mohammed Hamood AL-Farga is Associate Professor in Department of Biochemistry, University of Jeddah, KSA. He is working on process development for a novel food. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Jiangnan University Wuxi, China, where he worked on Physiochemical, Nutritional value and Antioxidant Characteristics of a novel food Alhydwan (Boerhavia elegana Choisy) Seed and its Application in some Food Products, the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award Nomination of China, 2016. His research focuses on development for novel foods in an attempt to discover more innovative foods of high nutraceutical values that can be used in other food product systems. He has published various papers (100) in high impact factor international journals and her work is very well cited by researcher’s worldwide. He has Award of “Finding Future-star of Young Researchers Scheme”, 2016, He has also been awarded with various awards and honors’ including the Doctoral Fellowship, Wuxi, China. He published more than 100 scientific works. Two patents (Under review), Reviewer in more than 18 international journals as well as member of the editorial board of Several indexed journals.

The author received an honorable PhD in mathematics and majored in engineering at MIT. He attended different universities over 17 years and studied seven academic disciplines.
He has spent ~30,000 hours in endocrinology research with an emphasis in diabetes. First, he studied six metabolic diseases and food nutrition from 2010 to 2013, then conducted his own diabetes research from 2014 to 2019. His approach is “quantitative and precision medicine” based on mathematics, physics, optical and electronics physics, engineering modeling, wave theory, energy theory, signal processing, computer science, big data analytics, statistics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. His main focus is on preventive medicine using prediction tools. He believes that the better the prediction, the more control you have. Thus far, he has written, published, and presented more than 200 medical papers.

He won a grant from CRDF global to accomplish requirments of GLP of biosafty and biosecurity at education laboratories.

I am graduated in Biomedicine by the Triangulo Mineiro Federal University (UFTM) (2005), Master of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases by UFTM (2008), specialist stricto sensu in clinical analysis by Faculdades Integradas de Jacarepaguá (2010) and Doctor of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases by UFTM (2014). Currently I am work in mycology laboratory and clinical pathology service of UFTM and I am voluntary teacher and a preceptor of the multidisciplinary residency of the biomedicine course in this same university. I have experience in the microbiology and clinical analysis areas, with emphasis on mycology, mainly in the following areas: infectious and parasitic diseases, evaluation of virulence factors, cryptococcosis, candidiasis, antifungal susceptibility tests, identification of filamentous and yeasts fungi by classical and molecular methods, PCR, PCR-RFLP, RAPD, PCR-fingerprinting, phylogenetic analysis and multilocus sequencing typing. I have twenty two papers published (described in the CV http://lattes.cnpq.br/4061760612104716), one submitted to journal BMC Genomics, another in minor revision in the Mediators of Inflammation and two submitted to medical Micology. Currently I am editorial board member of International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Microbiology (IJCEM), Global Journal of Pediatrics & Neonatal Care, ACTA Scientific Microbiology, Current Scientific Research in Biomedical Sciences, Research Journal of Medical Sciences and International Journal of Microbiology and Current Research (IJMR).

Mastoura M. Edrees is an Associate Professor of organic Chemistry (H-Index: 9). she received her B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from Cairo University in 1996 and her M.Sc. degree in organic Chemistry in 2001 from Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Cairo University. She got the Ph.D. degree from Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science Cairo University in 2004. In 2007, she got a post doctor scholarship at Southampton University, United Kingdom. She is an associate professor at National Organization for Drug Control and Research (NODCAR), Egypt. She transfer to work as assistant professor in the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science in King Khalid University KSA from 2010 until 2015, she has been chair of the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, from 2013 tile 2014; she is an associate professor from 2015 until now at king Khalid university. In 2017, She got the prize in the excellent teaching (first place) from King Khalid University. Dr Mastoura have many manuscripts in the field of organic chemistry. My PhD. in Microbiology, 1998, from Microbiology & Botany department, Faculty of Science, Alexandria University, Egypt. Mohd Hasmizam Razali has a PhD degree in Materials Engineering (Nanomaterials) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), MSc. in Chemistry (Catalyst) and B.Sc (Hons) in Chemical Industry from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Currently he is a Senior Lecturer at Faculty of Science and Marine Environment, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Malaysia. He has published more than 50 technical papers in journals and conference proceedings locally and internationally related to the nanomaterials and functional materials research. Owing to their significant impacts to the science, economy and society, his innovative research and inventions have attracted global and national interests, enabling him to secure financial support from both private and government agencies. He has been awarded Who’s Who in the World for 3 years in a row 2013, 2014 and 2015 by The Marquis Who’s Who Publications Board. In 2014, the Cambridge Biographical Centre listed him as one of 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century, due its ability to produce nanomaterials with tremendous improvement compared to conventional commercial materials. On top of that, he is also the recipient of the MAWHIBA Award and GENEVA Gold Medal Award in 1999.

Everaldo Silvino dos Santos awarded his undergraduate course in Chemical Engineering by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte-UFRN (1994) in Natal (Brazil), his MSc. (1997) and DSc. (2001) also in Chemical Engineering by State University of Campinas (Campinas, Brazil). He was a researcher visiting at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT/USA) in 2014 working at Prof. Kristala L. J. Prather group. Currently, he is a Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at UFRN. Additionally, he has published more than 80 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of many journals in the field of Biochemical and Chemical Engineering.

Degree of Doctor of Philosophy acquired in the field of zoology. Title of thesis for doctorate is “Evaluation of eco-friendly antioxidant in amelioration of Aflatoxin-Induced toxicity in mice”. Currently working as Research scientist at the Research and Development department, at pre-clinical section at recognized organization Cadila Pharmaceuticals Ltd. since last 10 years. About 19 presentations attended and delivered, among which 2 presentations were awarded 1st prize. 15 articles published in esteemed international journals with good impact factors. Life time member of “Society of toxicology, India”. Served as project fellow under University Grant Commission, New Delhi, India for three years”. Also working as Quality Assurance personnel as and when required. Also serving as “Study Director” for many toxicology studies. I use to work as the director of Research and Study at Agriculture Research Center (ARC) up to 2014, also a Consultant and Director of European Branch at Libyan Commission for Education, Culture and Science. and Scientific Consultant, Libya and director of departments of microbiology at (Omar Al-Mukhtar University, Al-Bayda, Libya?up to now), dean of Faculty of Mdecal Technology . He published more than 80 papers in reputed journals and serving as an editorial board member of repute, and 1 book in Arabic about Algae and 1 translated book about proteomic. I am prof. of Mycology working at Botany Department, Microbiology section, Faculty of Science, Tanta University, Egypt, as a prof.Dr. Of Microbiology (Mycology). My major research interest is Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Fungi, especially pathogenic yeasts like Candida and Cryptococcus neoformans. Also, my research interest is extending to the area of antifungal drugs development and bioremediation. I have done my M.Sc. in the field of Microbiology. However, in 1993 I have gotten the chance to do my Ph.D. on Cryptococcus neoformans in Virginia Tech. Biochemistry and Anaerobic Microbiology department with Walter G.Niehaus through Egyptian- USA channel system. My thesis title was “Biochemical and Molecular Characterization of Fatty acid synthetase from C.neofrmans. Also, I got personal postdoc. Grant from JSPS of Japan to do post doctoral work in Kumamoto University, Molecular Genetics department on Host lung gene expression response to fungal infection with Fusarium kyshuense. Again, I travelled back to USA, Yale University to carry out training in Biotechnology field, working in Gene knock out from Candida albicans with Brain Woung (Infectious disease department).
I have supervised a large numbers of theses either M.Sc. or Ph.D within different topics inside Mycology.

1. I am interesting with pathogenic fungi especially Cryptococcus neoformans and Candida albicans as well as the others those causing corneal keratitis or dermatophytes to human to develop a new antifungal agents that could be used in infection treatment.
2. Also, I am giving especial interest to fungal enzymes, and secondary metabolites nature and applications.

Dr. Laishram Shantikumar Singh is currently working as Scientist, Microbial Biotechnology at Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, Sikkim Centre, DBT, Govt. of India, Gangtok, Sikkim, India. He holds graduate and post graduate degree in Microbiology from Bangalore University, Bengaluru, India and received PhD degree in Microbial Biotechnology from Dibrugarh University, India through research at CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, Assam, India. He has worked on many government grant projects. He has received several awards and recognitions for his academic and research achievements, including Group Technology Award 2009 given by DRL, DRDO. Dr. Singh has over 15 years of research experience in the field of Microbiology, Biotechnology, Microbial Bioprospecting, After Ph. D. he has worked at University School of Biotechnology in GGSIP University, Delhi and also at corporate R & D sectors of Tata Tea Research Centre in APPL, Jorhat, Assam. He had taught Microbiology and Biotechnology courses as lecturer at Brindavan College, Bangalore University & Microbiology course as visiting faculty at CAEPHT, CAU, India. He has more than 15 research papers/book chapters publish in National and International Journal of repute & presented articles in many National and International conferences. He has published many research data in NBCI Genbank database. Many students have carried out M.Sc. dissertation projects as well as summer trainings under his guidance. Noah Isakov is the Joseph H. Krupp Professor in Cancer Immunobiology at the Shraga Segal Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Genetics, the Goldman Medical School, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, in Beer Sheva, Israel. His major interest is in signal transduction mechanisms in normal and transformed cells, predominantly in the immune system. He was involved in the discovery and characterization of new signaling molecules in T lymphocytes and continues studying the intricate signaling pathways that regulate T lymphocyte functions and T lymphocyte-mediated immune responses.

Our main research interest focuses on T-cell antigen receptor (TCR)-directed signal transduction pathways in T lymphocytes, as well as a comparative analysis of signal transduction mechanisms in normal versus transformed cells. We aim at identifying and characterizing the mechanism of action of several important effector molecules in T lymphocytes and study their role in the immunological synapse. Among the proteins that we study are protein kinase C theta (PKC?), ZAP-70, Crk and PICOT. PKC? and ZAP-70 are essential for the regulation of T lymphocyte activation and differentiation, are key molecules in the immunological synapse of TCR triggered T cells, and their absence leads to immune deficiencies. The Crk adaptor proteins are involved in the regulation of signaling mechanisms downstream of the TCR, while PICOT, which associates with PKC? in T lymphocytes and was found to be essential for embryonic development is highly expressed in several types of malignancies, including human leukemia, although its exact biological role is still enigmatic.

In addition to her computational background she has a profound knowledge of molecular biology and microbiology due to her prior work in these fields. I am Jazib Ali Irfan from Pakistan. I have completed my postgraduate (MPhil) in Biotechnology from the National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE), Faisalabad, Pakistan affiliated with the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Sciences (PIEAS), Nilore, Islamabad, Pakistan. My basic postgraduate research is in Plant Genetic Engineering but my theoretical strength is in Biomedical Sciences. Maulin P. Shah, currently Chief Scientist & Head – Industrial Waste Water Research Lab, Division of Applied and Environmental Microbiology Lab at Enviro Technology Ltd., Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India, received his Ph.D. (2002-2005) in Environmental Microbiology from Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat. He has served as an Assistant Professor at Godhra, Gujarat University in 2001. He is a Microbial Biotechnologist with diverse research interest. A group of research scholars is working under his guidance on the areas ranging from Applied Microbiology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioremediation, and Industrial Liquid Waste Management to solid state fermentation. My primary interest is the environment, the quality of our living resources and the ways that bacteria can help to manage and degrade toxic wastes and restore environmental health. Consequently, I am very interested in genetic adaptation processes in bacteria, the mechanisms by which they deal with toxic substances, how they react to pollution in general and how we can apply microbial processes in a useful way (like bacterial bioreporters). One of our major interests is to study how bacteria evolve and adapt to use organic pollutants as novel growth substrates. Bacteria with new degradation capabilities are often selected in polluted environments and have accumulated small (mutations) and large genetic changes (transpositions, recombination, and horizontally transferred elements). His work has been focused to assess the impact of industrial pollution on microbial diversity of wastewater following cultivation dependant and cultivation independent analysis. His major work involves isolation, screening, identification and Genetic Engineering of high impact of Microbes for the degradation of hazardous materials. He has more than 200 research publication in highly reputed national and international journals. He directs the Research program at Enviro Technology Ltd., Ankleshwar. He has guided more than 100 Post Graduate students in various disciplines of Life Science. He is an active Editorial Board Member in more than 150 highly reputed Journal’s in the field of Environmental & Biological Sciences. He was Founder Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Environmental Bioremediation and Biodegradation (2012-2014) as well as Journal of Applied and Environmental Microbiology (2012-2014) (Science and Education Publishing, USA). He is also serving as a reviewer in various journals of national and international repute. Recently, he has been awarded as a Young Biotechnologist Medal by Biotechnological Society of Nepal”.
